the fluffiest snow i ever saw

how do you capture fluffy,
when you photograph the snow?
i wish someone could tell me,
because i do not know.
today would have been perfect,
but i didn't have a clue.
so i just marveled at it's lightness,
as i kicked it with my shoe.
i commented to my neighbor,
who was out to get his mail,
he didn't seem quite as impressed,
by this minute detail.
but i was quite delighted,
at it's texture and it's hue,
though i didn't take a picture,
i think this poem will do.

grey days

all of these grey days,
are turning me blue,
it's making it hard,
to do what i do,
it's making it hard,
to smile and to sing,
i'm finding it hard,
to do anything,
so i just keep on doing,
and singing in spite,
of these awful grey days,
and i pray for sunlight.

caught up in the light,
by sparkles in the snow,
gold across my bedspread,
icicles aglow,

soft and subtle shadows,
warm and gentle hues,
illuminated treasures,
morning light my muse.

close to my heart

photo edge by Cottage Arts

the sun is shining brightly,
the guests have all gone home,
everything is peaceful,
and i have some time alone.

time to look at photos,
of christmastime together,
the faces of the ones i love,
the people that i treasure.

in many ways, it makes me sad,
that we're so far apart,
that is why i scrapbook,
so they'll stay close to my heart.

Minnesota Morning

When you go out in the morning,
And it’s minus six degrees,
You’d better wear your long johns,
Or else your legs will freeze.

You ought to wear a sweater,
And don your warmest coat,
Be sure your face is covered,
Wrap a scarf around your throat.

Two pairs of socks inside your boots,
Will help your toes feel good,
Wear gloves inside your mittens,
And don’t forget your hood.

By the time you get all bundled,
You’ll have worked up quite a sweat,
So head outside just to cool off,
The cold you will forget.

Connors Christmas 2009

Sitting in my craft room, looking at the snow

Printing off some pictures, where did this last year go

Oh yes I see it clearly, in the photos that I took

As I organize them neatly, to put them in scrapbooks

We started off the New Year, putting Laura on a plane

As she moved to New York City, to get out of the rain

In March Daniel was married, in true artistic style

He serenaded Tiffany, as she walked up the aisle

Tim’s West Point graduation, happened late in May

We celebrated proudly, his accomplishments that day

Amy and I bonded, seeing tourist destinations

Our ”Cheesy American Road-trip”, was more than a vacation

Now to balance out his work, Tom is playing more

He’s working out at the gym, and golf gets him outdoors

It seems I’m always busy, at home or at my job

Driving Amy to her classes, or else walking the dogs

This year was full of milestones, we always will remember

As I turn them into scrapbooks, from January to December

The main thing that I notice, as this big year ends

The memories we treasure most, are our family and friends

underwear

she looked a little nervous
like she knew she had been naughty
when she came out of the closet
with something wrapped around her body

i don't know how she did it
but she thought that she looked fine
she was wearing someone's underwear
and i know they were not mine

one leg was in an opening
the waist wrapped round her neck
they really didn't fit so bad
i said, oh what the heck

if you really want to dress yourself
at least you started right
a lady must wear underwear
when she goes out at night
