saturday morning housework

under all the dirt and dog hair,
underneath the piles of stuff,
lies a home that's really gorgeous,
because this home is filled with love.

if i clean the house this morning,
if i vacuum and i dust,
i can spend the afternoon,
trying not to mess it up.

i can sit and do some reading,
i can make a card or two,
so i'd better stop my rhyming,
because there is so much to do.

the wonders of winter, have often been penned,
but my greatest wonder, is when will it end.

my funny valentine

hooray! hooray! it's valentine's day,

so do something sweet, and send me a treat,

if treats are too costly, just send me a hug,

'cuz i'm your one and only, sweet valentine's pug.

winter waking

the snow blowers are blowing,
and snow plows rumble by,
can't hear those roosters crowing,
the sun's not in the sky.

the shovels scrape the sidewalks,
so kids can get to school,
i don't need my loud alarm clock,
the noise outside will do.

another minnesota morning,
and "you betcha" it's sure cold,
i dream of global warming,
and summer days of old.

the fluffiest snow i ever saw

how do you capture fluffy,
when you photograph the snow?
i wish someone could tell me,
because i do not know.
today would have been perfect,
but i didn't have a clue.
so i just marveled at it's lightness,
as i kicked it with my shoe.
i commented to my neighbor,
who was out to get his mail,
he didn't seem quite as impressed,
by this minute detail.
but i was quite delighted,
at it's texture and it's hue,
though i didn't take a picture,
i think this poem will do.
