remembered dogs

remember how your dog would greet you
whenever you came home
no matter where you'd gone
or, how long he'd been alone

it will be like that in heaven
whenever we arrive
the dogs we loved, will know we're there
like when we were alive

they'll greet us with such joy
saint peter will have to wait
but he too, will rejoice
with his dog beside that gate

to make sure that you arrive
you don't have to travel far,
just try to be the person
that your dog believes you are

big hike

The Warm Up

if i had known
how far it was
i never would have gone

i didn't have a clue
the hike
would be so long
Hot Dog

The Carry
and boy
that sunshine sure got hot
as we walked on
and on

i got so tired
that i was glad
when momma came along

she carried me
for a bit
the hike to not prolong

after a break
i walked some more
i once again felt strong
The Second Carry

when michael
scooped me in his arms
singing his silly song

i didn't mind
his singing
as he carried me along

i walked some more
and finally
when i could not
go on

we were back
and i was glad
not to be dog gone

Gulf Breeze Zoo

Yesterday I went to the zoo with my sister Melissa and her husband Doug.  It was a great day and of course the baby gorilla was top attraction.  You should have heard the tigers fighting!

Hero

Doug Middleton is my new hero.  While we were at the Gulf Breeze Zoo yesterday he noticed a parakeet stuck with a thread from a rope around his neck.  We notified the closest Zoo worker who, with Doug's pocket knife and help freed him.  She took him to be checked out and returned him a short while later.
