Tres Dias Weekend

such joy i saw this weekend,
and endless acts of love,
sins that were forgiven,
and many tender hugs.

lives put back together
confidence restored
laughter song and dancing
touches from our Lord.

if you ever wonder,
"does Jesus love me too?"
i'd like to recommend,
something you can do.

go on a Cursillo,
if Catholic's your church,
Tres Dias if you're Protestant,
either one will work.

so, if this invitation,
touches you some way,
please feel free to ask me more,
i'll point you the right way.

Happy Earth Day

This is a little ditty written for the 20th anniversary of Earth Day by me and my buddy Rebecca Troop. It was for a Brownie Girl Scout event, so it's audience was elementary age girls.

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

Reduce, re-use, recycle

It’s good for us today

Reduce, re-use, recycle

Tomorrow it will pay

If we all are careful

Of what we throw away

There will always be places

Where children can play

There will always be trees

For buildings and for homes

There will be resources

When we all are gone

But if we are not careful

We’ll fill our earth with waste

Then we will be crowded

By things thrown out in haste

Soooo . . . . . . .

Reduce, re-use, recycle

It’s good for us today

Reduce, re-use, recycle

Tomorrow it will pay

this spring i rejoice,
with nature's return,
each sparrow and robin,
each blossom and fern.

they seem like lost friends,
i'm so happy to see,
as if they'd arrived,
especially for me.

the world's come alive,
with sounds long unheard,
the peep of a frog,
the song of a bird.

each new one I hear,
or I spot on the wing,
feels like a bright gift.
for my opening.

and with each return,
i start to revive,
my heart fills with hope,
and i feel alive.

Welcome Spring

to say you make my heart sing,
seems so trite,
but i will say it anyway,
because it's right.

you open my soul wide,
and i feel God's love,
so i open my arms,
to the heavens above.

i laugh and i spin,
and i turn toward the sun,
i give thanks to God,
for now spring has come.
