grey days

all of these grey days,
are turning me blue,
it's making it hard,
to do what i do,
it's making it hard,
to smile and to sing,
i'm finding it hard,
to do anything,
so i just keep on doing,
and singing in spite,
of these awful grey days,
and i pray for sunlight.

caught up in the light,
by sparkles in the snow,
gold across my bedspread,
icicles aglow,

soft and subtle shadows,
warm and gentle hues,
illuminated treasures,
morning light my muse.

close to my heart

photo edge by Cottage Arts

the sun is shining brightly,
the guests have all gone home,
everything is peaceful,
and i have some time alone.

time to look at photos,
of christmastime together,
the faces of the ones i love,
the people that i treasure.

in many ways, it makes me sad,
that we're so far apart,
that is why i scrapbook,
so they'll stay close to my heart.

Minnesota Morning

When you go out in the morning,
And it’s minus six degrees,
You’d better wear your long johns,
Or else your legs will freeze.

You ought to wear a sweater,
And don your warmest coat,
Be sure your face is covered,
Wrap a scarf around your throat.

Two pairs of socks inside your boots,
Will help your toes feel good,
Wear gloves inside your mittens,
And don’t forget your hood.

By the time you get all bundled,
You’ll have worked up quite a sweat,
So head outside just to cool off,
The cold you will forget.
